Ongoing Minnesota Vikings Stadium Debate

A Proposed Minnesota Vikings StadiumThe Minnesota Vikings are working hard for a new stadium. Last week, mayor of Minneapolis RT Rybak voiced his opinion on the topic. RT Rybak believes building a new stadium at or near the current Metrodome location is the best option for the city. There has been some debate about a new stadium close to Target Field in the Warehouse District, but those talks have been preliminary. Charley Walters (Pioneer Press Sports Writer) believes that the Vikings will get approval for a new stadium by the end of the current legislative session. Walters states:

"Financing would come from state and Hennepin County taxes as well as the Vikings, who will have to put up more than they want — about $400 million of an estimated $900 million overall cost. The stadium will have a roof, but it won't be retractable."
