Poll Supports Viking Stadium Location

A recent poll of 1,000 people throughout Minnesota found a majority approval rating for a new Vikings stadium at the current Metrodome site. 61 percent favor the same location. 72 percent of those polled say the new stadium is "somewhat or very important" to keeping the Vikings in Minnesota.

30 percent were opposed and nine percent were undecided.

Similar results of other polls support the findings.

Vikings Add Ex-Bears CB

The Minnesota Vikings are creating depth in the secondary, signing former Chicago Bears cornerback Zack Bowman to a one-year deal.

Antoine Winfield will play mostly in the slot, with Chris Cook and Asher Allen handling receivers out wide.

Bowman boasts good size at 6'1" and 196lbs. He had a breakout season in 2009 with six interceptions. The 27-year-old was benched three games into 2010 and started one game last season, finishing with 15 tackles.

Minnesota Vikings Stadium Bill In Senate

Vikings officials seeking a new stadium remain optimistic even though a funding bill stalled in its first test at the Capitol this week. Gov. Mark Dayton cast doubt any vote will happen this legislative session unless Republican leaders get on board.

Bah.

Shocker.

Christian Ponder or RGIII

Christian Ponder, one who doesn't avidly follow the NFL draft, is mentally preparing for whatever the Vikings have planned... including the possibility of drafting a quarterback such as RGIII with the third overall pick.

Recall, Ponder threw for 1,853 yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions on 54.3 percent passing in 11 games and 10 starts. Ponder had a 381-yard passing performance against Denver, but a four-turnover game against Detroit.

It is important to remember that the move from Ponder to RGIII appears to be unlikely for a team with several positional needs.

The deal is far from done - it must be approved by the Minneapolis City Council and the Minnesota Legislature.
